
John C. Peterson, Esq. is a Senior Associate Attorney specializing in the defense of workers’ compensation claims. John has over 22 years’ experience as a Workers’ Compensation Attorney, practicing both for well-known private law firms and as in-house counsel for prominent national insurance companies.
John is skilled in managing WCAB litigation, cases in chief, AOE/COE disputes, expedited hearings, trials on the merits, and lien matters. Over his career, he has obtained mastery of all nature of discovery procedures, including QME evaluations and depositions of applicants, percipient and expert witnesses, and medical providers. John also has extensive experience in alternative dispute resolution (ADR) under California Labor Code § 3201.5.
John maintains consistent, meaningful contact with claims professionals, risk and safety managers, and human resources executives to assess exposure and to develop and execute strategies to bring claims to prompt and cost-effective resolutions.
John earned his Juris Doctorate from University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, and his Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy from California State University, Sacramento.
When he is not providing his clients with The Best Defense, John enjoys playing tennis, hiking, and spending time with his dog and teenage sons.
