Heywood G. Friedman, Esq., is the firm’s principal attorney. Mr. Friedman received his Juris Doctorate degree from Loyola Law School of Los Angeles in 1986, having earned numerous academic awards, including admission to the prestigious Saint Thomas More Law Honor Society, and having received American Jurisprudence Awards in a number of subjects. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Communications from California State University at Northridge. During his twenty year plus legal career, Mr. Friedman has provided litigation, regulatory and transactional representation to many multi-national and Fortune 500 businesses. Mr. Friedman is regarded by his clients, the judiciary and opposing counsel as having the highest level of legal knowledge, superior analytical capabilities, and exemplary advocacy skills.
Mr. Friedman speaks frequently at insurance industry functions and legal education seminars. He serves as a volunteer legal advisor to the National Children’s Hospital located in Denver, Colorado. Mr. Friedman is a member of numerous professional organizations dedicated to the provision of the highest standard of legal representation. |

Haik K. Bartoumian, Esq., received his Juris Doctorate degree from Pepperdine University School of Law, and a Certification in Alternative Dispute Resolution from Pepperdine’s Strauss Institute. Mr. Bartoumian is deeply integrated in all aspects of the firm’s workers’ compensation department. His continuing education and research into the nuances of SB 899 and ensuing case law, along with his desire to go to trial in order to eliminate frivolous claims, enables him to obtain highly favorable results.
Mr. Bartoumian’s reputation as an expert in the field of workers compensation claims continues to grow, as evidenced by his regular service as a Judge Pro Tem at the Los Angeles Branch of the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board. |

Jeremy M. Shatzer, Esq., graduated cum laude from the Pepperdine University School of Law. While at Pepperdine, Mr. Shatzer was the Literary Citation Editor for the Pepperdine Law Review. Mr. Shatzer also competed both regionally and nationally for Pepperdine’s interschool Competition Trial Teams, finishing third and receiving a Runner-Up Best Advocate Award from among 16 top-ranked trial teams from across the country at the National Civil Trial Competition.
Before attending law school at Pepperdine, Mr. Shatzer attended the University of California at Santa Barbara where he majored in Political Science, with an emphasis in International Relations. Mr. Shatzer grew up for most of his life in the Conejo Valley and knows the community well. In his spare time, he loves to golf and snowboard.

Jay Parmelee, Esq., received his Juris Doctor degree from the Pepperdine University School of Law and was admitted to the Bar in December 2010. Mr. Parmelee also received a Certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution from the prestigious Straus Institute, as well as his Master of Divinity. As an undergraduate, Mr. Parmelee attended Pepperdine University where he double majored in History and Religion.
Before returning to law school Mr. Parmelee was a federal investigator for the United States Office of Personnel Management. He spends his spare time with his wife and young daughters. |
